Render Weekly Season 3 Week 10
Every so often I actually commit to finishing one of the Render Weekly challenges.
While I was in Boston I picked up an obsession with all sorts of traffic safety equipment. Fascinated with the form development and great variety I saw, I started collecting photos of all the different types I would see around the city. This fascination started with a traffic drum, but soon expanded to cover pylons, cones, posts, barriers, and barricades.
This was also the first project I used PureRef for, introduced to it from Tim Zarki’s suggestion on a Minor Details Discord chat. You can think of it as a moodboarding tool that’s like using InDesign’s frames on steroids. I’ll definitely make this part of my workflow moving forwards.
There a few images that I didn’t share on Instagram, and I’d like to post them in higher resolution somewhere else too, so I’m dumping the rest of them into this post.
Finessing the textures for the silver reflective bands and the gridded top reflector.
