Week 2

October 30, 2015 by SingYu Lam

Starts with a sunrise.

Or two.

Drawing class first thing in the morning and already pushing out those cars. Perspective is still pretty wonky, lots of i8 inspired cues in these sketches.

Making the most out of the empty wood shop early in the semester.

I had forgotten - spend 3 hours shaping and 6 hours after just sanding. So much sanding.

Lit by a passing car, you can really see how the grain definition is starting to get a lot sharper. Really lucked out with the grain placement though, amazing lines and curvature. I didn't think much of that at all while I was shaping the piece.

Clean up after yourself.

Absolutely love how it turned out.

Get it? Turned out? Because it was turned? On a lathe?

I'll see myself out.

Currently head over heels with the Kia Soul. Something with its rear is just so compelling. Thought the isolation of the panel at the back by surrounding it with glass was pretty smart.

Some more faces.

Construction lines, boxes, and drawing the X's really help.

Can't get over this, one of the favourite things I've ever made.

Game plan is to focus a lot on drawing this year.

When in doubt, add arrows! It'll make your drawing look that much more professional.

Ellipses and pipe practice.

Water bottles on the left, some more turned wood forms on the right. Wasn't kidding about the lots of drawing.
