Muji Reopening
Traumatized by the initial opening of Muji back in 2014—when the line stretched down the block all the way to Bay—I decided to come 2 hours early to the opening, yet somehow I was still the second person there. I can’t believe there was someone even crazier than I was.
40 minutes before the opening and well on the way to becoming human popsicles outside, the staff came out with some coffee.
In the end, my worries were unfounded since this is what the line looked like 5 minutes before the opening. I think most people didn’t even realize Muji had closed for a while or that anything was happening that day.
Second is the best.
Two floors! Stationary is on the second now, so you can be tempted by more Muji goodness on your way up.
I didn’t know there were portable aroma diffusers but I love the packaging.
The soft and hard lights made even the plain walls look beautiful. The fitting room is a new addition.
There were a lot of these hanging displays set up around the store.
On to the second floor.
One of those things you never knew you needed until you saw it.
First 300 purchases $20 or more got you one of these tote bags. Not gonna lie, big reason why I came to the opening was just to pick up one of these.
They had these set up so you could print your own stickers to distinguish your organizers, but sadly I have nothing at home I need to have labelled.
There’s a selection of books to buy now as well.
I really dig that chair back.
With all the glass you can see from outside I thought there’d be more sunlight on the second floor, but you only see slivers of the downtown bustle in a few places.
The Muji cafe seen from across the gap.
Classic.
Crazy talk.
It’s going to be an abrupt end to the post, but I completely forgot to photograph my haul. Not pictured: two full bags of unplanned purchases.
